Employee theft is prevalent in this industry due to several key factors:
The majority of customer transactions are cash, which is easier to misappropriate (i.e. to steal)
Virtually all business in this industry operate on antiquated tech. Relying heavily on pen and paper, and basic spreadsheets.
These factors create an environment conducive to skimming. My client estimates a loss of at least 10-20% in gross profit due to employee theft. Additionally, the absence of structured, technology-driven processes has limited my client's understanding of the business' finances.

Constraints
Since my client's business is in a gray area, he couldn't use commonly used 3rd party tools. Basic things like order management systems and payroll softwares were off limits. Anything we did had to be in the shadows 👻
